Raj Subramaniam is the President and Chief Executive Officer of FedEx Corporation, a global leader in transportation, e-commerce, and business services. He assumed the role of CEO in 2022, becoming only the second CEO in the company’s history, succeeding founder Fred Smith. He also serves as a member of the FedEx Board of Directors. With over 30 years of experience within FedEx, Subramaniam has held various leadership roles across the company’s operating companies in operations, marketing, and international management. Prior to his current position, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of FedEx Corporation from March 2019, and as President and CEO of FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation company, before that. His career at FedEx began in 1991 as an associate marketing analyst.
Subramaniam is recognized for spearheading the global transformation of FedEx, focusing on revitalizing the company’s operating strategy, profitably growing the e-commerce business, and leveraging global supply chain data for future innovation. Originally from Trivandrum, India, Subramaniam holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, a master’s degree in chemical engineering from Syracuse University, and a master’s degree in business administration from The University of Texas at Austin.
Beyond FedEx, he serves on the board of directors of The Procter & Gamble Company and is actively involved in organizations promoting economic growth and trade, including the President’s Export Council (appointed by U.S. President Joe Biden in 2023), the Business Roundtable, the U.S.-China Business Council, and the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum. In 2023, he received the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award, the highest civilian award presented by the President of India to the Indian diaspora.
