Girish Mathrubootham is Chairman and CEO of Freshworks. He co-founded the company in 2010, overseeing its growth from an idea to a multi-billion dollar unicorn with over $300M in annual recurring revenue and 50,000 paying customers in 120+ countries. He is also an active angel investor and adviser to SaaS start-ups.
Girish co-founded Freshworks (then Freshdesk) in October 2010 after a poor customer service experience, which crystallized a core understanding: customers deserve to be treated better. What began as a single product focused on customer service is now a global business with a comprehensive suite of products designed to help companies win and keep customers for life. Under Girish’s leadership, Freshworks has expanded globally including the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia with backing from leading investors including Accel, Sequoia, Tiger Global Management, and CapitalG.
Girish is passionate about fostering economic development and entrepreneurship. He has invested in over 60 startups and is a founding member of SaaSBOOMi, Asia’s largest community of founders and product builders shaping India’s SaaS industry. He also founded FC Madras, a grassroots youth football club in Chennai, India to promote talent and provide a positive outlet for local youth and teenagers through the sport.
Girish holds an MBA in Marketing from the University of Madras and a BE from Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology and Research Academy.
