Director of Development-India, The Nature Conservancy

Anita Schwartz works for The Nature Conservancy’s India Program. The Conservancy is working in India to secure freshwater, green cities, advance renewable energy, protect forests, and improve agricultural practices. Anita’s role is to mobilize resources and build external partnerships. Anita has worked for conservation organizations for more than 20 years and started her non-profit career at Conservation International in Washington, D.C. in 1990. Anita earned a B.A. from American University with a double major in literature and American studies. She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive, having secured an internationally-recognized professional credential for philanthropic executives. Anita also completed a certificate program in authentic leadership at Naropa University. She serves on the Board of Directors of Boulder’s Dairy Arts Center. Anita is a small business owner, an aspiring collage artist, and an avid reader.
