Athreya Venkata Ramanan

Athreya Venkata Ramanan is a professional Race Car Driver competing in the Formula Regional Americas Championship (Formula 3 US). In 2021 he was vice-champion in the Formula Pro Western Championship, with a win at the famous Sonoma Raceway and 9 podium finishes. Prior to 2021, Athreya developed his skills in karting where he won several state-level races. His goal is to continue his fast climb up the motorsports ladder to win formula world championships in 5-6 years.

Born in Hyderabad, India, Athreya moved to the Bay Area with his family when was 4 where he completed his elementary education and received his 1st degree black belt in MMA from Ernie Reyes West Coast Martial Arts. He then moved to the Seattle Area, WA where he completed high school with honors and achieved a 2nd degree black belt in taekwondo from the World Taekwondo Federation. It was in Seattle that Athreya started his racing career, first winning a pro-am championship at the age of 13 before winning many state level go-kart races and graduating to Formula 4.

Now, Athreya is studying Integrated Business and Engineering at Purdue University to gain the skills in engineering and business which would make him a better driver on track. He is also working on a project at the university to design, develop, and race an electric go-kart, applying his motorsport experience to a greener form of racing.
