Dr. Manish Mehta schooled in India, East Africa, Singapore and the US. He has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Bangalore University (1985), and doctoral degree in industrial engineering from University of Cincinnati (1993), and completed the Executive Program in technology strategy at the University of Michigan’s Ross Business School. After a career with two non-profit research institutes, he founded M-Tech International LLC in 2015 to organize collaborative R&D in sustainability technologies for automotive, aerospace and defense clients. As Chair of the JAINA Diaspora Committee, he coordinates philanthropy initiatives with Jain leaders in 35 countries. He is a past president of Rotary Club of Ann Arbor North and was awarded his Rotary International District’s Humanitarian of the Year (2015 and 2017) for leadership of humanitarian and sanitation projects in India, Bangladesh, Nigeria and Nepal. He is a Fellow of three engineering/professional societies, and managed Michigan’s 21st Century Job Fund Business Plan Competition which invested $30M in startups. He and wife Dr. Varsha Mehta (a UM Professor of Pharmacy) live in Ann Arbor, MI, and have two adult sons. They derive pleasure in hosting and mentoring students from around the world.
