Neel Kashkari

Neel Kashkari is an experienced, pragmatic leader who has successfully worked with Republicans and Democrats to tackle the most serious economic challenges America has faced in nearly a century. Neel’s interest in public policy and service led President George W. Bush appointing him to the Department of the Treasury. He was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate, as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, in 2008.  Following his time in Washington, Neel returned to California in 2009 and joined PIMCO where he was Head of Global Equities.    He left the firm to explore returning to public service to help tackle California’s high unemployment, failing schools and record poverty. Neel announced his candidacy for Governor of California in January 2014. While recognizing the challenge of unseating an incumbent, Neel focused his campaign on developing and promoting economic policies that cut across partisan boundaries. He won the Republican nomination in June 2014, running on a platform of job creation, education reform and rebuilding the middle class
