Priya Natarajan

Priya Natarajan is an astrophysicist, author, and Professor in the Department of Astronomy and Physics at Yale University. She is a cosmologist who works on understanding structure formation in the universe with particular focus on the dark matter component and black holes. Her first book, Mapping the Heavens: Radical Scientific Ideas that Reveal the Cosmos, came out in April 2016, and takes the reader through the human and psychological side of understanding the cosmos. In addition to her academic position at Yale, she also holds the Sophie and Tycho Brahe Professorship of the Dark Cosmology Center, Niels Bohr Institute, at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. She has been awarded fellowships at Guggeheim and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University. Priya has undergraduate degrees from M.I.T. and did her graduate work in theoretical astrophysics at Cambridge. She serves on the Board at Indiaspora.
