Sachin Varghese

Sachin Varghese

Candidate, District 89, Georgia State House; Attorney; Former Public School Teacher

Sachin Varghese is seeking to become the first Indian American elected to the Georgia legislature. He was born in India and immigrated to Georgia as a child. He grew up working class and his mom has been an hourly employee for over 30 years. Sachin grew up attending diverse public schools and was fortunate to receive a great education. He is a former public school teacher and now an attorney. He has lived in the district he seeks to represent for almost a decade with his wife and two young children. Sachin has fought against discrimination and on behalf of Georgians. He helped lead the challenge against Georgia’s discriminatory statewide redistricting maps and argued alongside Rep. John Lewis. Sachin’s life experience—growing up working class, as a minority and an immigrant, as a former teacher, and as a cancer survivor—has instilled in him a strong desire to run for office.
