Thiru Vignarajah

Thiru Vignarajah is a partner at DLA Piper in Baltimore and previously served as Deputy Attorney General of Maryland. A native of Baltimore, Thiru studied at Yale University and Harvard Law School, where he was President of the Harvard Law Review. He clerked for Judge Guido Calabresi on the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and Justice Stephen Breyer on the U.S. Supreme Court. He then served as a federal prosecutor at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland and as Chief of Major Investigations in the Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office before being named Deputy Attorney General. Thiru has taught constitutional law and crime policy at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore Law School, and Maryland Law School, where he has repeatedly received the award for outstanding professor of the year. Thiru is a Democrat running for State’s Attorney for Baltimore City.
