Niraj Shah is the Chief Executive Officer, Co-Chairman, and Co-founder of Wayfair, a leading online retailer for home goods. He co-founded Wayfair with his Cornell University classmate, Steve Conine, in 2002, and has served as CEO since its inception.
Before establishing Wayfair, Shah had a history of entrepreneurial ventures. He was the CEO and co-founder of Simplify Mobile, an enterprise software company that was sold in 2001. Prior to that, he was an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Greylock Partners, and served as the Chief Operating Officer and a board member of iXL. He also co-founded and was CEO of Spinners, an IT consulting company that was acquired by iXL in 1998.
Shah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Cornell University. He has been recognized for his business acumen, including being named to Fortune Magazine’s “40 Under 40” list and receiving the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award. He has also served as a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. Shah is also an active philanthropist. He and his wife founded the Shah Family Foundation, which supports education, healthcare, and community projects in Boston. His vision for Wayfair continues to focus on leveraging technology to enhance customer experience and maintaining a socially responsible business model.
