T.V. Narendran is the CEO and Managing Director of Tata Steel Ltd, one of India’s largest steel companies and a key player in the global steel industry. He is a distinguished leader known for his pragmatic approach to business and his focus on transforming traditional steel manufacturing for the future. Narendran is a Mechanical Engineer from NIT Trichy and completed his MBA from IIM Calcutta. He is a recipient of Distinguished Alumnus Awards from both NIT Trichy and IIM Calcutta. He is a Chevening Scholar and has also attended the Advanced Management Programme in CEDEP-INSEAD, Fontainebleau.

Narendran joined Tata Steel in 1988. He worked in the International Trading Division of Tata Steel from 1988 to 1997 wherein he spent five years in Dubai looking after Tata Steel’s exports to the Middle East. Over his decades-long career with Tata Steel, he has held various leadership positions before ascending to the role of CEO and Managing Director. His extensive experience spans international operations, strategic planning, and business development across multiple geographies.

Narendran’s leadership philosophy emphasizes remaining pragmatic in the face of resilience. His emphasis on organic and inorganic growth strategies for Tata Steel reflects a commitment to sustainable business practices. He has introduced change management processes to instill a culture of future readiness at the 100-year-old company.
