Samir has over 8 years of real-world healthcare experiences in creating data-first and AI-first application platforms for longevity, lifestyle, wellness, advanced primary care centers and specialized chronic disease clinics in diabetes, cardiology, nephrology, etc.
Samir was a member of the original Java team at Sun Microsystems, which created a programming language and web application platform that transformed the internet. Java has stood the test of time and is actively used by millions of enterprise developers (est. 10+ million developers) worldwide.
Samir created the Java application platform for mobile phones (J2ME), much before iPhone was launched in 2007. Today Java Mobile is thriving as the primary programming language used by Android developers – the largest mobile app developer community in the world (est. 6+ million developers).
His entrepreneurial journey started as an entrepreneur-in-residence at Sequoia Capital, advised several VC firms, and co-founded two successful startups: Cast Iron Systems (sold to IBM) and Prism Circuits (sold to MoSys). He holds several patents in semiconductors, networking and digital healthcare.
Samir has been an instrumental person to deliver larger societal impact of technology to billions of people. His successful roles of being a technology advisor to the Prime Minister of India, Chief Innovation Advisor to India’s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, and a startup advisor to India’s Planning Commission was showcased together with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon at the UN General Assembly.
