Brij and Sunita Agrawal are longtime Sugar Land residents and philanthropists whose generosity has made a lasting impact on healthcare and education in the Greater Houston area. Originally from Chhattisgarh, India, Brij moved to the Houston area as a teenager and went on to earn a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Houston’s Cullen College of Engineering. He has since built a diverse business career and currently serves as President and CEO of the VKC Group, which operates more than 150 restaurants across Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico.

Together, the Agrawals have combined business success with philanthropy focused on healthcare, education, and community development. The Agrawals’ commitment to giving back extends well beyond this gift. In 2022, they contributed $1 million to the University of Houston at Sugar Land to support state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and advanced manufacturing research, and the university’s ground-floor auditorium now bears their name. They have also previously supported medical initiatives at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital. As Sunita Agrawal has expressed, their philanthropy reflects a deep sense of gratitude, a desire to give back meaningfully to the community that shaped their personal and professional journey.

In June 2026, Brij and Sunita Agrawal donated $5.5 million to support healthcare services in Texas, marking the largest philanthropic gift ever made to St. Luke’s Health-Sugar Land Hospital. The donation was made to expand clinical programs at the hospital and help establish a new Primary Care Community Clinic in Sugar Land, a suburb of Houston. In recognition of their contribution, the hospital renamed its main patient tower and pavilion the Agrawal Family Patient Tower and Pavilion.
