Sushma Sharma
Sushma Sharma is a corporate lawyer, entrepreneur, former law professor and academic leader, board advisor, and author of Board Matters, a book on corporate governance and effective board leadership.
Over a career spanning more than two decades, she has worked across law, academia, entrepreneurship, and strategic advisory roles in the United States and Asia.Sushma is the Managing Partner of Legal Clarity Group and CEO & Chief Strategist of Core Clarity Consulting, where she advises companies, founders, boards, and senior leaders on corporate law, governance, strategy, leadership, and organizational accountability.She began her corporate legal career at Shearman & Sterling and Kirkland & Ellis, working on M&A, private equity, and general corporate matters. She subsequently moved to Hong Kong, where she spent more than seven years in legal academia and served as Head of the Practical Legal Education program at City University of Hong Kong. During her academic career, she also served on policy-level bodies bringing together the legal profession, government, and Hong Kong universities on issues relating to legal and higher legal education.Sushma later founded Konversai, a technology-enabled peer-to-peer learning platform, adding the perspective of a founder and entrepreneur to her legal and academic experience.She holds an LL.M. from Columbia Law School, where she was a Human Rights Scholar; a B.C.L. from the University of Oxford, which she attended as a Radhakrishnan British Chevening Scholar; and an LL.B. from the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. She has also completed the Corporate Governance: Maximize Your Effectiveness in the Boardroom executive program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Drawing on her experience across law, business, academia, and entrepreneurship, Sushma writes and speaks on corporate governance, leadership, accountability, and decision-making, with a particular interest in how strong leadership and institutional structures contribute to effective and responsible organizations.
