Dr. Abhishek Bhowmick

Head of Frontier Security, Snowflake

Dr. Abhishek Bhowmick is Head of Frontier Security at Snowflake, driving defensive strategy against cyber and LLM threats and partnering directly with leading frontier AI labs. He joined Snowflake through its 2023 acquisition of Samooha, the secure data collaboration platform he co-founded and led as CTO, which was named to Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies of 2024 and featured on CNBC.

Prior to Samooha, Dr. Bhowmick spent more than five years at Apple, where he led privacy and security efforts at the scale of over one billion iPhones, translating research into deployed systems as Head of ML Privacy and Cryptography, System Intelligence and Machine Learning. Earlier in his career, he worked at Goldman Sachs, where he identified more than one billion dollars in capital savings through novel machine-learning-based risk frameworks, and at Microsoft in Data Privacy R&D.

Beyond his industry work, Dr. Bhowmick resolved a long-standing open problem in information theory dating to 1977, with implications for theoretical computer science, and was twice invited to speak at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, hosted by Turing Award winner Avi Wigderson. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, where he received the Young Alumnus Award in 2024 for his contributions to technological innovation, computer science, and entrepreneurship.
