Shoba Viswanathan is the Executive Vice President of Development and Chief Community Engagement Officer at Indiaspora. In this role, she mobilizes the global Indian community to drive meaningful impact through philanthropy, public service, entrepreneurship and advocacy.

With extensive experience in nonprofit development, civic engagement, and strategic partnerships, Shoba has been instrumental in spearheading initiatives that enhance civic participation and community leadership. She co-founded the Chitthi Brigade, an initiative focused on increasing the political engagement of Indian-American women. Her background in intersectional feminist research informs her efforts to foster inclusive civic spaces, ensuring diverse voices are represented in leadership and policy-making.

Before joining Indiaspora, Shoba built a career in the publishing industry, leveraging storytelling as a tool for social impact. Her expertise in communications, philanthropy, and diaspora engagement enables her to bridge global networks and create lasting change across sectors. Shoba’s leadership at Indiaspora reflects her deep commitment to empowering communities and fostering global connections to amplify the contributions of the Indian diaspora.

Born in New Delhi and raised in Chennai, Shoba is a first-generation Indian-American. She has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Midwest and now resides in New York. In her free time, she enjoys hiking in the Hudson Valley.
