Waheed Alli

Member of the House of Lords, United Kingdom

Lord Waheed Alli is a prominent British media entrepreneur and Labour politician. He has held key roles in major media companies, including Planet 24, Carlton Television, and Silvergate Media, where he served as CEO until 2022.

Appointed to the House of Lords in 1998 as its youngest and first openly gay peer, he has been a champion for LGBTQ+ rights, leading campaigns such as the repeal of Section 28 and pushing for equal age of consent.

Alli’s influence extends beyond politics; his philanthropic efforts and entrepreneurial ventures have solidified his status as a trailblazer in both media and public service. He remains connected to his Caribbean roots and continues to shape the Labour Party’s future through his fundraising and advisory roles.
