Rangarajan (Raghu) Raghuram is the Chief Executive Officer of VMware Inc. He earned his M.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay in 1986 and an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, in 1996.

Mr. Raghuram joined VMware in 2003, beginning his tenure by leading product management for ESX and vSphere. Over the years, he has held several key leadership positions, including Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Software-Defined Data Center division and Chief Operating Officer for Products and Cloud Services. In these roles, he was responsible for VMware’s overall product and service portfolio, as well as core support and operational functions.

Before VMware, he held product management and marketing roles at Netscape (1996–2000), Bang Networks, and AOL (2001–2003).

An industry thought leader, Mr. Raghuram has played a pivotal role in VMware’s strategic and technological evolution, helping grow the company from a startup to a Fortune 200 enterprise. Under his leadership, VMware has reached approximately $13 billion in annual revenue, employs around 37,000 people, and serves over half a million customers across more than 100 countries. He has also overseen the development of VMware’s extensive technology portfolio, which includes more than 5,000 awarded patents.
