Natarajan Chandrasekaran

Chairman, Tata Group

Natarajan ”Chandra” Chandrasekaran is the Chairman of Tata Sons & Tata Group (since January 2017). In 2025, he was honoured with an honorary knighthood (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) by King Charles III in February, recognising his role in strengthening UK–India business ties—especially through flagship brands like Jaguar Land Rover and Tetley that employ over 70,000 in the UK.

He also played a key role in Tata’s strategic expansion in India: spearheading new investments in Uttar Pradesh—such as a Global Captive Centre in Lucknow, cultural tourism projects in Ayodhya, and an Air India MRO facility—during talks with the state government in May 2025.  Under his leadership, Tata Group continues to drive its “One Tata” vision, expanding into semiconductors, consumer platforms, electronics manufacturing, and aviation—most notably the acquisition and rapid transformation of Air India.

After completing his primary and secondary education in public schools, he attended the Coimbatore Institute of Technology and received a bachelor’s degree in applied sciences. He completed a master’s degree in computer engineering before beginning his career at Tata Consultancy Services. Indiaspora is proud to have N Chandrasekaran on our Business Leaders 2.0 List.
