Philanthropic giving is one of the most powerful ways diaspora communities can demonstrate their commitment to the places they now call home. For immigrant groups around the world, charitable giving, whether through time, treasure, or talent is far more than an act of generosity; it is a profound statement of belonging.

This list is ongoing. We hope to add many more names of Indian Origin philanthropists who are making substantial contributions to support universities, nonprofits and other charitable ventures all over the world.

It signals to host communities that newcomers are not simply residents, but invested neighbors who care deeply about the well-being of those around them. When diaspora communities show up for local food banks, schools, shelters, and social causes, they build bridges of trust and mutual respect that no policy or rhetoric ever could.

Specifically we are looking for Philanthropists who have donated over $1 Million to universities, nonprofits and other charities since January 1st, 2025. This is a call to action and a celebration of untapped potential. Imagine the transformative impact 35 million people could have if charitable giving became a defining cultural value, not just within Indian communities, but for the broader societies that have welcomed them. The time to give back is not someday. It is now.

The Indian diaspora, one of the largest and most accomplished in the world at an estimated 35 million strong, has a remarkable opportunity and indeed a responsibility to lead by example in this regard. Spread across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the UAE, Singapore, and beyond, the Indian diaspora has generated extraordinary wealth, influence, and expertise. Despite our careful research, we recognize this list is by no means exhaustive. We welcome suggestions of other exceptional philanthropic leaders who should be spotlighted and will evaluate recommendations and add to our list as necessary.
